Ponderosa Timber Frame Home

Our Process

You may have a location in mind or are just beginning to research timber frame living. No matter what stage you are at in the decision-making process, Mid-Atlantic Timberframes has an excellent team of in-house designers who are ready to guide you. You can choose to use your own architect or work from scratch with one of our in-house designers. Either way, we are committed to making the design/build process as worry-free and simple as possible.

Step One: Design

We will collaborate with you and/or your architect to refine the timber frame element, select your truss and timber-frame design, and identify custom elements to personalize your home. When you have settled on a design, our design team virtually builds your home, allowing you to make changes until you are 100% satisfied with the design.

Step Two: Craft

Once the design has been finalized and the drawings have been reviewed by our structural engineer, our craftsmen will cut, mill, and carve post and beams from locally sourced, handselected timber. We will even work with you to identify a local home builder to prepare the foundation and add the mechanical systems, exterior surfacing, roofing, walls, and other finishing elements.

Step Three: Build

When the timber frame elements are complete, our carpentry crew raises the frame at your new home site and our craftsmen add custom details before the local builder finishes your home.

You can rest assured that your Mid-Atlantic Timberframes professional will be there to walk you through every step of the process from initial design to final inspection. We’ll even help you plan your housewarming party!
