Ponderosa Timber Frame Home

Our Process

You may have a location in mind or are just beginning to research what timber frame living means. No matter what stage you are at in the decision-making process, Mid-Atlantic Timberframes has an excellent team of in-house designers who are ready to guide you on this timber frame construction process. You can choose to use your own architect or work from scratch with one of our in-house designers. Either way, we are committed to making the design/build process as worry-free and simple as possible.

Step One: Design

We will collaborate with you and/or your architect to refine the timber frame home plans, select your truss and timber frame design, and identify custom elements to personalize your timber frame home. When you have settled on a design, our design team virtually builds your timber frame home, allowing you to make changes until you are 100% satisfied with the design.

Step Two: Craft

Once the design has been finalized and the drawings have been reviewed by our structural engineer, our craftsmen will cut, mill, and carve post and beams from locally sourced, hand selected timber. We will even work with you to identify a local custom home builder to prepare the foundation and add the mechanical systems, exterior surfacing, roofing, walls, and other finishing elements.

Step Three: Build

When the timber frame home elements are complete, our carpentry crew raises the timber frames at your new home site and our craftsmen add custom details before the local custom builder finishes your new timber frame home.

You can rest assured that your Mid-Atlantic Timberframes professional will be there to walk you through every step of the process from initial design to final inspection. We’ll even help you plan your housewarming party!
